Therapeutic Riding of Tucson (TROT) semester ends with horse show

Students will show off their skills and celebrate with their families at TROT (Therapeutic Riding of Tucson)

Another successful year at TROT (Therapeutic Riding of Tucson) is wrapping up with a Celebration of Achievements where all of the students from TROT will show off their skills and demonstrate their accomplishments from the semester.

Students include veterans, children, and adults with physical and mental disabilities. The horse show will begin with the TROT Veterans doing a flag ceremony and singing the national anthem from their horse's back.

Each student will receive recognition for the incredible strides made, not only in their riding skills but also in their interpersonal skills and progress of their personal goals.

“Our students have been working very hard this semester and are thrilled to be able to show off what they have learned,” said Lesley Rich, TROT Executive Director.  “Each student has made tremendous progress, and I’m excited to cheer them on with the community while they receive their ribbons. This semester one of our students started the process of learning to read while on her horse, and another gained enough core strength to walk to the mounting area without her walker. Great things are happening every day!”

You are invited to attend the Celebration of Achievements Horse Show, talk to families, and see for yourself the incredible transformations that therapeutic riding brings to TROT students.

  • What: TROT Celebration of Achievements Horse Show
  • When: April 13, 2019 8:30am-12pm
  • Where: TROT, 8920 East Woodland Road

TROT staff and volunteers use therapeutic riding strategies for children and adults with disabilities and special needs. These therapies help improve balance, coordination, motor skills, and even speech skills. Each semester, the students and volunteers form special bonds and friendships with each other, and the TROT therapy horses. Volunteers will tell you that miracles happen every day!
